PDEA shuts down 2 drug dens in Davao

TWO drug dens were dismantled while 10 drug personalities were arrested during two separate anti-narcotics operations of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional office (PDEA 11) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Based on the report by PDEA 11 information officer Noli Nephi Dimaandal, agents from PDEA Davao del Norte provincial office together with Tagum City Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, August 15, at around 10 p.m. in Purok Bagani, Barangay Cuambugan, Tagum City.

Marivic Tan Casis Cubio alias Marivic Wong, 43, a resident of the area, was arrested for selling one small sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, worth P1,000 to an undercover PDEA agent.

Rodelio Tan Casis, Relito Wong Tan Casis, Catherine Marqueda and Louie Jay Ligutom were also locked up for visiting the drug den, the residence of Cubio.

Authorities recovered one medium pack of methamphetamine hydrochloride weighing 11 grams with a street value of P165,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Another buy bust operation was launched in Purok 2, Barangay La Filipina, Tagum City at around 11:30 p.m. of the same day.

The suspect was identified as Mae Burang Barriga alias Mae, 29, married, a resident of the place. She was arrested after transacting with a PDEA agent to whom she sold one small sachet of shabu worth P1,000.

Aside from Barriga, other visitors of the drug den who were arrested were Randy Villegas, Arlyn Silvosa, Jonard Avelino and Louie Art Llesis.

During the drug bust, one medium pack and 10 small plastic sachets of shabu weighing more or less ten grams with a street value of P150,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia were seized inside the residence of Barriga.

The suspects are currently detained at the PDEA regional office detention facility while the seized illegal items were submitted to Laboratory Service of this office for laboratory examination.

Cases for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 15, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them.
