INVESTIGATORS are looking into robbery as the motive behind the murder of a retired police officer on M.L. Quezon Ave. in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City past 3 a.m. yesterday.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera captured the shooting of retired SPO2 Wilfredo “Willy” Amores, 56. The culprits took his bag that allegedly contain P5 million cash.

The perpetrators, two men on a motorbike, fled after the incident. Amores succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Supt. Reyman Tolentin, Police Regional Office 7 spokesperson, said initial investigation showed that the culprits are possible thieves as Amores became a lender of money to casino players.

A special investigation task group was formed to identify the culprits.

Amores reportedly came from a yacht club in Lapu-Lapu City before the attack happened.

He was driving his motorcycle with a female passenger when the culprits drove near him and shot him at close range.

The passenger was not shot, but she suffered bruises after the motorcycle fell. (KAL)
