A BARANGAY traffic enforcer, who worked as a motorcycle-for-hire driver on the side, was shot dead by his passenger past midnight Friday, August 17, in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

The fatality was identified as Guiseppe Lucas Caballero, the brother of Punta Princesa, Cebu City Barangay Councilor Mae Ann Caballero.

Caballero succumbed to a gunshot wound in the back.

Initial police investigation showed the culprit hailed the victim outside a fastfood joint in Punta Princesa.

The gunman then instructed him to bring him to Labangon.

When they arrived near a cemetery on Camomot St. in Bliss, Labangon, the culprit instructed Caballero to stop.

The victim obliged. Witnesses heard that the culprit asked Caballero if he would go home.

Before Caballero could answer, the gunman disembarked and shot him.

Punta Princesa tanods told the police that Caballero had no enemies in their village. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
