(UPDATED) Broadcast journalist Leo Lastimosa was summoned by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Central Visayas to produce an interview he made with Senator Antonio Trillanes III in 2017.
Lastimosa, accompanied by his counsel, lawyer Christian Llido, went to the CIDG office on Gorordo Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 17. Some of his listeners also showed up to lend him support.
Lastimosa interviewed Trillanes on September 8, 2017 over a libel case filed by presidential son and former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte against the senator.
In his radio program, Lastimosa discussed the subpoena from the CIDG, saying it was the second time he received an order to submit the recording.
He said the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) had issued a directive, instructing radio stations to keep the recordings of programs for 10 days. When there is a complaint against a certain program, the radio station must keep the record for 30 days.
Lastimosa said if there is a court order, the recording can be kept for a longer period.
"Kini, ten days human sa amo interview...wala may reklamo from NTC, court. Way mitawag sa amo attention nga tipigi na. Mao among gidelete in compliance with the NTC. Nireklamno sila ten months later, hagbay rang na-delete ang maong recording," he said in his program this morning Friday.
The broadcast journalist submitted his affidavit to CIDG-Central Visayas by 12 noon today. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
