TWO hundred children have benefited to the one-day outreach program of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) in Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Rear Admiral Rene Medina, NFWM commander, said the community outreach program was held on Monday, August 13, in time for the fiesta celebration of Olutanga town.

Medina said the beneficiary-children of the feeding program are the pupils of the Olutanga Day Care Center. The residents have also availed free haircut services.

The conduct of the activity was spearheaded by the Team NavForWem with the Civil Military operations Unit-Western Mindanao and the Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 (MBLT-11).

Medina said the feeding program was made possible with the assistance of the Ateneo De Zamboanga University and Mega Global Incorporated, who also donated cans of sardines to the community.

He said that a friendly game between Olutanga municipal officials and employees headed by Mayor Arthur Ruste Sr., police and Navy personnel was held, “which serves as an avenue of building a stronger relationship and connection with the community through sports activity.”

The residents of Olutanga was also entertained by the lively performance of the NFWM Band, which was also participated by local singers.

Medina said the continuous presence of the Fleet-Marine Team aids in promoting peace and development in the area and also strengthen the bond and trust of the community with the military. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
