Ex-soldier arrested in entrapment

A FORMER soldier was arrested in an entrapment for gun smuggling Malagutay village, Zamboanga City, the police said Friday, August 17, 2018.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Ricardo Guillen, 41, an Army man, who has gone on absence without official leave (Awol).

Galvez said Guillen was arrested by operatives of the Police Station 7 and Joint Task Force Zamboanga around 4 p.m. Thursday in Malagutay village.

She said the transaction was first agreed to be held in the village of San Roque but was transferred later to Malagutay, where the suspect used to hangout.

Recovered from Guillen were two units of M-16 Armalite rifle upper receiver with bolt, one M-4 replica rifles and sixteen lives ammunition, Galvez added.

She said the arresting team also recovered P10,000 marked money consisting of 10 P1,000 bills from the suspect.

The information officer said the suspect was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him in court. (SunStar Philippines)
