Quota teams up with ‘liga’ chief in relief distribution

QUOTA International of Pampanga has teamed up with Liga ng mga Barangay President and Barangay Dolores captain Vilma Caluag in distributing relief goods Friday, August 17, 2018, in various flooded barangays of City of San Fernando.

The relief team was augmented by medical volunteers from the Mother Theresa of Calcutta Medical Center. The Quota International of Pampanga team was led by their president, Vilma Dungo.

The volunteers joined Caluag in visiting heavily flooded Barangay San Nicolas where they distributed relief goods by boat to every household. Caluag said that residents were unable to leave their homes because of the flooding.

Earlier, Caluag has prepositioned some 6,000 relief packs for flood victims in the City of San Fernando to be distributed over the weekend.

Caluag said the relief packs will not just be distributed in Barangay Dolores but in the entire 35 barangays of the City of San Fernando.

The relief packs contain canned goods, noodles and rice. Volunteers from Caluag's political supporters and team helped pack the relief goods.

“We will be prioritizing barangays which are heavily flooded,” Caluag told reporters, stressing that the funds used for the purchase of the relief goods came from her personal money.

She said that the move is her way of helping barangays and their officials. She added that it is part of her commitment as president of the Liga ng mg Barangays to help other villages in times of need.
