The 3rd Mindanao Open Wushu Sanda Championships opens at 8 a.m. today at its new venue, the Christian Colleges of Southeast Asia in Maa, Davao City.
King's Sword Martial Arts (KSMA) chief Nell Jone Astudillo Friday, August 17, 2018, bared the change of venue from Metro Fitness and Family Center (MFFC), formerly Metro Lifestyle, to the current location for the two-day tournament.
The officiating team, judges and coaches' orientation was ongoing as of Friday.
Astudillo earlier said the event will serve as preparation for Davao City's wushu athletes who will compete in the Batang Pinoy 2018 National Championships in Baguio next month.
Two-time defending champion KSMA Davao aims for a grand slam this year but entries from Digos City, Bansalan, Kidapawan City, General Santos City, Panabo City, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Agusan del Sur and Davao City are no pushover.
Wushu Federation of the Philippines medals are at stake.
