Anomaly-free system for police applicants

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to strictly implement the barcoding system in its recruitment process to eliminate insider intervention should the applicant fail the examination.

PNP chief Oscar Albayalde, in an interview on Thursday, August 16, during the turnover of command ceremony at the Police Regional Office Davao (PRO) 11, said the move of the PNP to shift to an improved system called Robust, Neuro-Psychiatric, Medical and Dental Screening System for Police Applicants (Ronmedds), which is a full computerization, barcoding and nationwide database of regional health service processing of police applicants, aims to ensure that the application process of aspiring policemen is free from anomaly.

“Wala ng ‘dukot dukot’ system. Wala ng makakaalam, not even me as the chief of PNP. Kung meron mang gagawa niyan papalitan ang resulta, malalaman yan kasi you have to log in, malalaman kung sino ang gumalaw ng resulta ng iyong examination,” Alabayalde said.

Should the applicant fail the test set by the PNP, whether it is agility or dental or medical or neuropsychiatric test, nobody could save them or alter the result because their identities are hidden in the barcode.

Meanwhile, newly-installed regional director of PRO 11, Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales, said they will likewise adhere to the new system that is seen to remove corruption through the use of influence to back an applicant.

“Ang mga ganyan na dinudukot ay talagang mahigpit ang patakaran ng PNP sa mga ganyang violation kaya ayan yong binabantayan nating maigi. Nagkaroon na tayo ng iba’t-ibang initiatives katulad nga ng binanggit ng ating chief PNP. Gagamit na ng barcode para hindi malaman kung sino yong candidate na tutulongan dahil walang pangalan yong iikot sa iba’t-ibang department dito sa PNP during his processing of promotion of application,” Morales said.
