Bong Go tops UM senatorial survey

SPECIAL Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Tesoro Go topped the senatorial survey of the Institute of Popular Opinion (IPO) of the University of Mindanao (UM).

More than 7 out of 10 Dabawenyos, or 76 percent, said they would vote for Go in the 2019 midterm elections.

“Other than Mayor Sara, the candidates they will vote for include SAP Bong Go ranking first on the list, Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa ranks second. Tied at ranks 3 to 6 are Grace Poe, Pia Cayetano, Sonny Angara, Koko Pimentel,” UM assistant vice president for Research and Public Center Ma. Linda Arquiza said in a media forum on Wednesday, August 15, at Habi at Kape.

Arquiza added senators Cynthia Villar and Nancy Binay tied at 10th to 11th spot.

“It may seem that the presence of senators JV (Ejercito) and Villar in the Hugpong ng Pagbabago activities enhances their political advantage in Davao City,” Arquiza said.

The following candidates made it to the top 12 spots of the senatorial statistical ranking: Lito Lapid, Bam Aquino, Teofisto “TG” de Lara Guingona III, Jose Christopher Belmonte, and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

“But if Sara runs as senator, the 12th spot is readily taken out from the counting,” Arquiza said.

Also based from the survey by IPO, Dabawenyos also believe Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio is ready for national politics.

“The mayor obtained 84 percent readiness for the midterm elections in 2019. It was noted that 49 in 50 or 98 percent of Dabawenyos can bet on the mayor’s experience in politics making her ready for the national position,” Arquiza said.
