THE Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) will continue to strengthen community relations and collaboration to improve programs for peace and order.
This was pointed out by PRO-COR director Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana during the second Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Council meeting at the Baguio City Police Office.
During the meeting, Nana reported a continuing improvement in crime situation in the region.
“During the meeting, we discussed with the members of the council our present situation updates in CAR from January to July 2018 as compared to the same period in 2017 and what we saw was a downtrend in crimes both in index crimes like crimes against persons and properties and on non-index crimes or violations on special laws and data on vehicular traffic accidents,” Nana said.
During the 1st Quarter Regional Peace and Order Council meeting held in Baguio City, PRO-COR operations officer Senior Superintendent Homer Penecilla reported a total of 8,368 crime volume was reported in 2017 compared to the 12,964 recorded in 2016.
PRO-COR recorded a 58.47 percent decrease of index crime from the 3,990 cases in 2016 compared to the 1,669 cases in 2017, while the non-index crimes listed a 25.35 percent decrease or from 8,974 cases in 2016 to 6,699 last year.
“In our briefing with the National Police Commission, we discuss the continuing improvement of our community and service oriented policing system implemented by our police personnel through a tripartite delivery of services, support to the local government units, and a strengthened community partnership and collaboration,” Nana added.
Just recently, the Baguio City Police Office and the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station were both adjudged as the best City and Municipal Police offices nationwide in terms of Police Community Relations.
