21 truckloads of waste extracted from Maa creek

THE Davao City Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) extracted 21 truckloads of plastics and other waste materials during its declogging and drainage operation in Maa, Davao City from July 25 to August 16, 2018.

“Ang problema po kasi sa Maa creek ay puno talaga ng plastic, at ang problema ng office ay hindi pwedeng mag-dump ng plastics kasi dapat doon yan sa proper dumpsites,” Engineer Franz Japheth Caballero, ASU engineer, said during a phone interview with SunStar Davao on August 16, 2018.

The drainage team of ASU helps address the flood problem of the city through destilling and declogging the drainage and canals by manual extraction.

Caballero also said that the Maa creek is already flowing and that they only need to dispose plastics and other waste properly before moving on to other operations lined-up even during Kadayawan festival celebration.

He also said that they prioritize barangays or concerned citizens’ request for declogging or cleaning operation.

In July, the drainage team extracted more than a hundred truckloads of waste from drainage in Panacan, Toril, Bajada, Ecoland, Matina, Buhangin among others.
