Constanilla: Cuenco: P1M for Visayan films

REMINDER. Through this column, may I remind songwriters (here and abroad) that the Cebu Arts Foundation Inc. is now receiving entries to the 39th Cebu Popular Music Festival. Deadline for the submission of entries is on Sept. 30 this year.

CATEGORIES. There will be a total of 12 original songs with three categories having four entries each. Awit sa Gugma, Huni sa Kasingkasing and Awit sa Pagpakabana are the specific categories that composers should prepare for. They should remember that each entry should not exceed four minutes.

FORMS. Entry forms are now available at the University of the Visayas President’s Office and Soundtraxx Production Studio.

READY. Seed money of P1 million—former Cebu City South District Rep. Antonio Cuenco has formally announced his readiness to put up this amount as initial capital for the production of a Visayan movie. It only goes to show that reviving the local film industry is a no-nonsense advocacy that he is espousing. To me, it’s a serious effort that all well-meaning individuals must fully support

CHEERS. On a personal note, allow me to belatedly greet my very good friend, Fr. Joselito Gutierrez Jr., one of the four priests comprising the popular Cebu Clergy Performing Artists. He is currently assigned at the St. Joseph Parish in Mabolo, Cebu City. More fruitful years ahead, Padre Batitoy!
