WITH the onset of the bountiful harvest brought by the month of August, local Dabawenyo fruit growers see a larger market for their fruit seedlings and tree.

“Kung ikumpara sa mga tanom nga dili ga bunga, mas daghan daghan jud ang mupalit sa amoa (If we were to compare with the nonbearing plants, more people would buy from us),” fruit tree seller Aries Dalde said in an interview on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Farm and Garden Agri Trade Fair in SM City Davao, Ecoland, Matina, Davao City.

Dalde added through the fair, local entrepreneurs can have an avenue in showing their agricultural products like the fruit trees in order to have a wider market.

“Kasagaran ang mga mupalitay jud kay kanang mga naay mga farms pud. Gapalit sila sa amoa arun naa silay madungag pud sa ilahang mga ipangtanom sa farm (Most of the people who buy from us are farm owners. They buy from us so that they can add something to plant in their farms),” Dalde said.

Dalde added they grow their fruit trees in Mintal, Davao City.

He said for the fruit bearing trees they are selling, calamansi and mangoes top as bestsellers at P50 per plant.

“Daghan mupalit pud ug mga ingunani nga tanum kay dali ra pud sila buhi-on (A lot of them also buy these plants because these are easy to grow),” Dalde said.

Meanwhile, lanzones is at P75 per seedling, durian at P150 per seedling, guyabano at P150 per seedling, star apple at P100 per seedling, and avocado at P75 per seedling.

“Maingon jud nako nga dako nga investment sa pagpalit ug fruit trees kay sure man na naa kay makuha (I could say that buying fruit trees is a big invest because you are guaranteed that you get something in return),” Dalde added.
