COLORFUL floral floats, which came in various sizes inspired by Davao icons, and upbeat music brought by Pitik sa Kadayawan contenders entertained thousands of revelers who trooped downtown to witness the last day of the 33rd Kadayawan Festival.
The annual Pamulak sa Kadayawan is one of the highlights of the celebration that features different floral floats adorned with indigenous materials, colorful flowers, bountiful harvest and the rich culture of the 11 tribes present in the city.
Kisan Lu Lands and Development Inc. ruled the Pamulak sa Kadayawan for Dako Category and took home P700,000. The second prize went to IPI Pharmaceuticals Inc. who received P500,000 and 3rd prize winner was the float of AirAsia, receiving P50,000 cash prize. Krispy Kreme and VXI Global Holdings also received consolation prizes.
In Gamay Category, Teleperformance bagged the first prize worth P300,000, the second prize went to Camella Homes with P200,000 and SnR entry got the third prize with P100,000 cash prize. Agdao Public Market (Flower Sector) and Palawan Pawnshop received P30,000 as consolation prizes.
For the Lahi Category Davao, the Horse Club won the first Prize of P100,000; second prize of P50,000 went to Dabawenyo UK Corporation and 3rd prize went to Man’s Bestfriend bagging P30,000.
On the other hand, the Pitik Kadayawan drumbeating competition gave the floral float parade loads of festive vibe. Participants coming from different places in Mindanao provided upbeat music that wowed the crowd as they perform at the Kadayawan Square.
Asuncion Drumbeaters emerged as champion and took home P200,000; 2nd place went to Caraga Drumbeaters with P150,000 and the 3rd placer was Bambad National High School winning P100,000. The 4th placer was the Davao Eagle Drumbeaters and 5th placer was the Mati National Comprehensive High School who both received P50,000 as consolation prizes.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio expressed her gratitude to the people of Davao and the visitors who joined in the celebration. She also thanked the 11 tribes who are the reason for the celebration as well as the executive committee and other offices who have contributed in the success of the annual festivity.
