Davao Doctor’s opens cardiac rehab center

MINDANAO's premier medical institution, Davao Doctors Hospital launched its newest state of the art facility, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center (CRC).

Launched Wednesday, the CRC had attended to its first client the day after.

"The CRC is designed to help people who have undergone heart procedures or those who have had a heart attack get back on their feet again and live normal lives," cardiologist Celia Castillo, DDH medical director, said during the launch.

The CRC compliments the Heart Institute program of DDH, one of the most comprehensive cardiology centers in the country, in providing a comprehensive cardiologic program and management that ranges from prevention, invasive and non-invasive treatments to rehabilitation.

Manned by the most competent cardiologist, nurses, nutritionists, physical therapists, and other medical staff, the CRC will increase the longevity rate of those who have had heart "incidents".

"Most patients who had these incidents become crippled by fear of another cardiac problem. At the CRC we will help them return to normal by closely monitoring what activities they can do," Castillo said.

Headed by Dr. Raul Martin Coching, the CRC will provide clients the venue for faster recovery and a faster return to normalcy without compromising the health of the patients.

"Here we can closely monitor their heart rates as they undergo a series of tests during the sessions. Here, goals are set and objectively monitored," Coching said. (CPM)
