Cebu police fail to arrest Peter Lim Monday

THE Cebu City police failed to nab Peter Lim on Monday, August 20, as the businessman was not around when cops went to his properties in Barangays Banilad and Kasambagan, Cebu City, to serve the warrant for his arrest.

Rosalie Bacalla, caretaker of Lim's house on Tres Borces St. in Barangay Kasambagan, told the police led by Mabolo Police Chief Dindo Alaras that she has not seen the businessman for a long time now.

Lim, she added, has not visited the property since she joined the family 10 years ago. Only Lim's mom was in the house, she added.

"Taud-taud na man daw wala niari. Mga napo na daw sya ka tuig, wala na daw na niari si Peter Lim," said Alaras.

In Barangay Banilad, the police searched the entire house, but Lim was also not around. Only a caretaker and house helpers were present when the police arrived.

Alaras said that if they fail to locate Lim within the 10 days period given by the Makati City court, they will send the arrest warrant back to the court, which will then issue an alias warrant of arrest.

An alias warrant has no expiration and can be served anywhere in the Philippines.

Alaras said they will not stop locating Lim and will check on his other properties in Cebu.

The police received the arrest warrant issued by the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 55 on August 16. The police were given only 10 days to serve it.

Lim was indicted on August 10 for conspiracy with self-confessed drug lord Rolan "Kerwin" Espinosa and several others to trade drugs.

The police called on Lim to surrender and face the charges filed against him. (SunStar Philippines)
