Pampanga cops help flood victims

AMID the almost three-feet deep floodwaters, personnel of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPPO) over the weekend distributed hundreds of packs of relief goods to residents of Castuli village in Macabebe town.

PPPO Acting Provincial Director Nicolas Salvador led the distribution of some 250 packs of relief goods to the flood victims in the said barangay, which is one of the most affected villages in the province.

Salvador said he personally chose Barangay Castuli as recipient after learning that the flooding in the area has not subsided for almost two months now, hampering most of the daily activities of residents, including the classes of students.

"This is our simple way of helping the flood victims and making them happy. We know that these bags are not enough but at least by this simple action of the Philippine National Police and the government, we are able to bring joy and happiness to those who were affected by calamities," Salvador said.

Salvador also took the opportunity to go around whole Macabebe and adjacent Masantol town, as well as the coastal communities of Minalin and Sasmuan, which were all badly hit by and are still suffering the effects of the onslaught of monsoon rains and tropical cyclone "Karding."

Upon seeing the situation of the residents in the flooded communities, Salvador and the local police in the said towns augmented the assistance provided by the local governments in terms of rescue operations and free transfer of stranded commuters using police mobile patrols.
