Mayor: City of San Fernando, Picpa make great partnership

CITY of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago expressed his gratitude to the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa) Pampanga Chapter for unendingly producing accountants and excellent professionals.

Picpa is a professional organization of CPAs in the Philippines, accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Santiago, as he graced the institution's events including a seminar, turnover and induction ceremonies, and general membership meeting for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 on August 17 at Kingsborough International Convention Center, said their members are in one with the government in promoting good and transparent governance.

"Accountants have such a big role in economic development. You are responsible in 'fixing' the economy and you do your responsibility in an excellent way," he said.

According to Chapter President Homarr Bondoc, the said events aimed to "update the professional development and awareness of their members on current issuances affecting their jobs and practices."

Participated by some 300 CPAs, non-CPAs, and other guests, some matters discussed during the seminar focused on tax updates and stress management. Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. president Jess Nicdao served as the event's keynote speaker.

Meanwhile, the new board of trustees of PICPAngan Foundation Inc., including City Accountant Maria Gisel Rivera, were inducted, alongside with the new officers of Picpa Pampanga Chapter.

"The City Government of San Fernando looks forward to a tighter partnership with you (Picpa Pampanga Chapter). As you produce more notable accountants, we are building notable accomplishments in the city," Santiago ended. (PR)
