Tesda to hold job fair on August 25

TO ADDRESS the growing opportunities in the technical-vocational (techvoc) industry, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda)-Davao will conduct the first World Cafe of Opportunities in the region on August 25.

"This is one of the occasion where we can give opportunities for our TVET (Technical Vocational Educational Training) graduates together with partnered companies and agencies to provide services in giving correct information to the TVET graduates as to available jobs in the market whether local, national, or even abroad," Tesda-Davao Director Lorenzo Macapili said during Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, August 20, at SM City Davao.

Macapili said the event is a big project for Tesda as it is in line with the agency's anniversary celebration and the celebration of National TechVoc Day.

"This is another way of expressing and making Tesda more relevant to the public together with other public agencies," Macapili said.

Macapili added that in this way, the TVET graduates can be more knowledgeable of the processes in terms of getting into the techvoc industries.

"But the most important actors jud ingun-ani kay ang mga employers nga magdala ug lista sa jobs available para kining TVET graduates (But the most important are the employers who would bring with them their list of available jobs for TVET graduates)," Macapili said.

Macapili also said the event will also be testament to the goal of the government's K-12 programs where under its educational curriculum, students from the techvoc strand can land a job after graduating senior high school.

"We are mandated to come up with a minimum goal of 1,000 students who will attend the event, but we are expecting more to come on August 25," Macapili said.
