2 die in electrocution

TWO persons died after they were electrocuted at Barangay Miranda in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental Monday morning, August 20.

Senior Inspector Ryan Salazar, town police chief, identified the fatalities as Jiboy Sordilla, 32, of Barangay 3-Poblacion; and Johny Gigantoni, 22, of Barangay Miranda.

Salazar said that Sordilla, a private computer technician, asked the help of Gigantoni, and several others to pull a guy wire, a tensioned cable designed for securing free-standing structures, of an internet connection line.

They were standing on a ladder and holding the galvanized iron when it accidentally fell and hit the post of Negros Occidental Central Electric Cooperative (Noceco). This also caused them to fall to the ground and hit by the electric current.

Both sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared dead.
