NEGRENSE champions Merlito ‘Tiger’ Sabillo (27 wins, 5 loses and a draw with 13 KOs) and Jay-R Raquinel (10 wins, a draw with 7KOs) will invade China next month for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) silver light flyweight and WBC silver flyweight titles, respectively.
Sabillo, a former World Boxing Organization World minimumweight titlist and Asian Boxing Federation light flyweight champion, aims to redeem himself as one of the world’s best fighters as he takes Chinese Jing Xiang (14 wins, 4 defeats and a pair of draws with 3 KOs) on September 15 in Qinzhou, China.
He is coming off a split decision loss in February when he was dethroned by ABF light flyweight champion Edward Heno.
Xiang has been very successful in his last 6 fights including unanimous victories against Filipinos Rollen del Castillo, Joy Joy Formentera and Joel Taduran.
Meanwhile, Cauayan-native Raquinel, the reigning Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation flyweight titlist, will face Chinese Wulan Tuolehazi (8 wins, 3 defeats, and a draw with 4 KOs) on September 28 in Changsha, China.
Raquinel is on a winning streak with back-to-back knock-out triumphs in Japan against Japanese fighters Shun Kosaka and Keisuke Nakayama.
Both Sabillo and Raquinel are fighting under Highland Boxing Stable which will also feature 2 more fighters this September.
On September 20, Nathan Bolcio will take on fellow Filipino Al Toyogon for the WBC Asia silver super featherweight title at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City while Jomar Fajardo faces Cris Paulino on September 22 in Baguio City for the WBC Asia super flyweight title.
