WITH the trend of technological apps as a medium for immediate billing payments, a leader in the information and communication urged businesses to tap into the potentials of cashless payments.
For Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-Davao president attorney Samuel Matunog, Dabawenyos in general want to do more with their cellular phones other than just sending and receiving texts, and this includes even paying bills.
“Before the people are just contented with receiving text but now they can watch movies, videos and play games, and even paying bills. Clearly, the demand is changing and we must meet that,” Matunog said on Monday, August 20, during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao.
Matunog added the innovation in the use of technology as a platform can be a vital edge for local Dabawenyo business players to mediate services for their customers.
For restauranteur and businessman Gatchi Gatchalian, e-payments have been helpful for the ease of transacting bills for his customers.
“We definitely welcome this type of digital development. In fact in our restaurant, we already accept e-cash payments,” Gatchalian said during the media forum.
Gatchalian added in this way, customers don’t have to bring cash along with them.
“Actually it is advantageous because now we have different modes of payment. We learned about cash, then credit cards. Now, using your cellphones, you can already make payments,” Gatchalian said.
Cashless payments for business owners like Gatchalian are one of the safest ways in transacting bills.
“For us businessmen cashless payments are good because the transaction connects directly to the bank which prevents from shortages and even theft,” Gatchalian said.
With the onset of such trend in this type of technology, ICT-Davao will continue to conduct innovation seminars in order to address the growing demand for e-payment apps.
