FINNISH phone brand Nokia targets to establish 100 mobile stores and kiosks by next year.

HMD Philippines country manager Shannon Mead said in an interview with SunStar Davao last Thursday that this is part of the company’s efforts in strengthening its presence in the Philippine market.

The phone brand, he said, is doing well globally as it is now placed ninth smartphone brand in terms of shipments according to Counterpoint Research released in August 2018.

“Though we have difficulties in some areas across Asia but globally we are on track for the goal of becoming top 3 phone brand in the next five years,” he said.

At present HMD has six mobile stores, 11 kiosks, and five mobile exhibits nationwide. Its Gaisano Mall Davao mobile store is the only store in the Philippines that did not close.

Apart from expanding its network, HMD has also expanded its product portfolio available in different price points.

This month, HMD rolled out two new smartphones: Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 3.1 which will be available for P5,990 and P9,990, respectively, starting August 29.

“At HMD Global, innovation means merging premium quality with affordability and accessibility. The Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 are just two of the breakthroughs we are proud to bring to Davao as one of our key markets. Both Nokia Android smartphones are designed with the technology to keep up with the Dabawenyos’ productivity and style,” Mead shared.

The Nokia 3.1 brings perfect balance between power and design thus endorsed by Google as a best-in-class experience across hardware and software given its price point, while the Nokia 2.1 gives better and long-lasting experience with its great battery life, faster processor, bigger screen and dual front-facing stereo speakers.

With HMD Global’s extended partnership with Home Credit, customers can also avail the Nokia 2.1 and the Nokia 3.1 at 0 percent interest for a six-month installment period.

For over a year in operation as a company, HMD Global, Mead reported that they shipped 70 million mobile phones globally, making it available in some 170 markets internationally.
