APPAREL and fashion store, Surplus, unveiled on Friday, August 17 its new and improved look at SM City Davao.

Surplus’ new look is the direction the store is taking to give its customers a better experience. It creates an urban yet youthful ambience with modern day graphics that add excitement to the shopping experience.

“It signals a brand new identity, but it is still a treasure trove of great fashion finds that are affordable,” Aida B. Dela Cruz, senior vice president for Vendor Relations SM Retail, Inc. said.

Inside the new Surplus are curved walls and walk path that creates a seamless transition from one area to another. The store’s dark gray floor tiles form a circular spot at the mid-part of the store to emphasize the merchandize mix.

The store windows and LCD television sets will be playing fashion videos showing customers the coolest store finds. Some affordable finds here are trendy tees, shorts, pants, tops, skirts, accessories and novelty items, shoes, and fashionable bags.

“The Davao surplus is doing well with the old format and now we wanted to give people a better looking store, we felt that we can emphasize the beauty of the items if we give them the right layout, ambience and lighting,” she added.

Dela Cruz shared that the SM City Davao Surplus store is the first store in Mindanao. At present there are 57 stores in the country, two of which are still yet to be relaunched with the new edgy look.

Surplus offers 95 percent branded and imported items.

“For now we have four branches in Mindanao, one here (Davao), two in Cagayan de Oro and one in General Santos City,” she said.

Expanding its network, Dela Cruz said, plans of opening branches in SM Lanang Premier and in a to-be opened store in Mindanao are underway.
