THE Pag-asa resettlement homeowners in Barangay Ilang, Davao City, said that it has been a week that they are experiencing water crisis.

“Among tubig diri bomba, luoy kaayo among bomba diha. Among gusto ipaabot sa gobyerno nga madali unta ang pagkuan sa bomba (Our water supply here is through water pumps, it is very inadequate. What we want is for the government to hear us and get the process on water supply here get done faster),” Vircelina Suarez, President of Pag-asa Homeowners Association and one of the beneficiaries of the pabahay program for biyaya ng pagbabago, said during an interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday.

“Naay tubig pero tag-50 ang drum, unya dili baya na igo sa is aka adlaw. Kay manglaba, maligo pa ka, manghugas plato, ug unsa pa (We can buy water for P50 per drum, but it will not be enough for washing clothes, taking a bath, washing dishes, and many more),” Suarez added.

The homeowners received 129 relocation houses last October 2015 as part of the risk reduction initiative of the government for flood-prone residents in the said barangay.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy and Social Housing Finance Corporation President Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling visited the relocation site to identify other needs of homeowners on Tuesday, August 21.

“We are just going to go around and check,” Badoy said, adding that their office wants to see the relocation site firsthand and the status of the people there.
