BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has ordered a probe in the dumping of garbage in the middle of the road at Lopez-Jaena Extension in Bacolod City Thursday morning, August 23.

Leonardia believes the incident was committed by more than one person, adding it was done intentionally.

He said he will order an investigation and arrest of the suspects because it’s a violation to the city’s ordinance.

“I am appealing to everybody that if this is happening within your barangay, please report it to our police,” he added.

The mayor noted that the city’s garbage hauler IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) is collecting the garbage in the 61 barangays daily.

“We are doing our best to clean our city so we should help each other,” Leonardia said.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairperson of the City Council committee on environment, said the act “is a sabotage because we have an ongoing clean and green competition.”

She further said that the action is “deliberate” “because the trash was so properly placed in the middle of the road.

Rojas said will contact the village chief of Barangay Villamonte to monitor and investigate the illegal dumping within his area of jurisdiction.

She said they will coordinate with the business establishment to check the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera to determine the perpetrators.

“Let us be vigilant and report to the proper authorities when you see this happening in your respective barangays. Let’s help each other maintain the cleanliness of our city,” she added.
