MY MOM has always been a “Barbie” doll fan since she was a child. Even throughout her early marriage, my mom used to maintain a room full of these dolls. And yes, all the four walls of my parent’s room were lined up with unopened boxes with its certificates intact.

Other sets have been opened to complete dollhouse furnishings. I remember my mom would stay late up night to tinkle and play with these “Mattel” creations and fashion dolls while my dad slept into the night.

To me it was not a surprise that she was so fascinated and excited to cover for a fashion dolls show. A travel to Manila at the Rizal Open Air Auditorium last August 17 was a wonderful time to reminisce this childhood passion. Thanks to titas Ana Matutina and Grace Buenaventura for the invitation. It was such a great opportunity for doll and fashion enthusiasts to witness. Live fashion dolls and models in Filipiniana were such a spectacle.

Designers for the show were Don Cristobal, Yue Santiago, Sollen Lucas, Geoffrey Lee, Ron Fuentes, Ybrahim Alejandro, Sephy Bartolo and Ana Matutina. The production would like to thank Lokallens magazine, Jetro Ibarrola; Photographers Jay Ang Buenaventura, Jerry Manongsong Tengco, Manuel Flores, Collin Sarthou Yap, Edmund Ong, Christopher Leyson, Bert Briones, Ferdz Leano, Angela Camaquin, Grey Ecarg; HMU artist Ronald Pascual, Kayee Acosta, Angel Tumbaga, Joshua De Leon and Arcee Page.

Models for the show, to include our very own models from Baguio were Denise, Eunice and Ken David Ashley Esteban; Love Zapanta, Jhezelyn Cajigas, Sofia Sario, Karen Dela Cruz, Andie Kim, Flordeliz Jeanlyan Villamor, Princess Athena, Gomba Mien, Krey Anne Kloppers, Sofia Loreen Cruz, Anne Lindio, Harlene Conopio, Alyssa Jei Buenaventura, Ladielyn Sing, Herlyn Mallare Jose, Luis Astudillo, Lance Edric Mangiliman, Joshua Clark Victor Dela Cruz, Jimnyl Canasta, Ivan Pizzaro, Lester Ian II Pascual, and Arnrheynne Roguel.

This enchanting event was brought to us by Gintong Alab Creatives in cooperation with Grazie Events Management.

Kudos to the organizers and participants! Till the next Osharé and SunStar Baguio fashion events coverage! Cheers!
