Kingad tests Wakamatsu in Jakarta

DANNY Kingad is set to test another veteran in ONE Championship’s “Conquest of Heroes” set on September 22 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Kingad, who is on a two fight winning streak squares of with 23-year-old Yuya Wakamatsu from Kagoshima, Japan.

The Kingad – Wakamatsu match–up will be one of the undercards presented by Asia’s largest mixed martial arts promotion headlined by reigning strawweight champion Yoshitaka Naito defending his title against fellow Team Lakay Joshua Pacio.

Holding a professional record of 10-2, Wakamatsu is an aggressive knockout artist with shocking power.

With nine of his 10 victories coming by way of knockout, Wakamatsu is a force to be reckoned with at flyweight. A winner of 10 of his last 11 bouts, Wakamatsu has decided to take his talents to the ONE Championship cage.

Kingad, a premier flyweight talent is a wushu champion with a professional record of 10-1. A true warrior from the mountains of the Philippines, the 22-year-old is a tremendous striker who possesses well-rounded grappling skills.

In November 2017, Kingad challenged reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes, and fell short in his quest of capturing the world title.

In his most recent bouts Kingad moved forward by defeating Ma Hao Bin and Sotir Kichukov by unanimous decision.

Also in the fight card is former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov battling Ma Hao Bin while former Southeast Asian Games Wushu bronze medalist Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol is set to face Jomary Torres in her next outing.

Also in the fight card is former IBC featherweight champion and Southeast Asian Games medallist Victorio Senduk takes on WKF Indonesia Champion Sunoto from East Java. (Roderick Osis)
