TKP Cup Bulletin: PD888, D'Twins beat opponents

PD888 Tropics Restobar routed Mitzu Motors 118-91 victory while D'Twins/RCA held off Probac 99-89 in the 10th Tan kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup played at Nompac Gym, Bacolod City.

D'Twins relied on the outstanding individual performances in each of the first three quarters to outscore Probac: 24-19, 28-17 and 24-19 as D'Twins registered its 2nd victory in 3 starts while Probac dropped to 1-1 in Bracket B.

Richard Occida with 13 points, and Mike Celedonio with 5 points started D'Twins on the right track and take a 5-point lead in the 1st quarter.

Probac got contributions from Tisoy Escote, Jason Olmedo and JR Fernandez with 5 points apiece.

Toytoy Española took the scoring cudgels for RCA with 14 points and Edmund Ausa added 7 points to extend the lead to 52-36 lead by halftime. Carlo Chu and Ryan Javellana had 7 points each for Probac.

In the 3rd quarter, it was the turn of Raffy Torrico imposing his inside presence at both ends of the court delivering 12 points and JR Mijares added 5 points as the lead ballooned to 76-55. Probac Sylvester Millevo and Sherman Gonzalez chipped in 7 and 5 points, respectively.

In the 4th quarter Probac gained some headway by applying a man-to-man pressure and relied their offense on the duo of Carlo Chu and JR Fernandez hitting 12 and 7 points, respectively.

Probac cut the lead down to 7, but the rally was cut short as Probac can't contain the low post attacks of Torrico and Occida garnering 8 and 6 points, respectively.

D'Twins/RCA was led by the trio of Torrico, Occida and Española with 20, 19 and 14 points, respectively.

Carlo Chu led Probac with 19 pts., Javellana added 12 points, Fernandez put in 11 points while Millevo and Gonzalez had 10 points apiece.

Tropics took the half 46-39 behind the troika of Raul Tillaman 11 points, Carl John Oquindo 9 points and Chad Prietos 6 points while Mitzu relied on the trio of Jary R Discutido, Marc Lo and Mc Ernie Gabales with 6 points apiece.

Mitzu can't match the 3rd quarter offensive juggernaut by Tropics as they extended the lead to 87-62 behind Slotman Raul Liza with 15 points, MVP Warren Alintano inside outside attacks had 10 points, Ryan Agena and Popoy Jamero delivered 8 points apiece. Brix Lucenara was the lone bright spot for Mitzu with 11 points.

Liza had a gamehigh 19 points for Tropics, backstopped by Jamero with 15, Agena 13, Tillaman 11, Alintano 10, Prietos and Oquindo at 9 points apiece.

Jeff Nepocpan and Gabales spearheaded Mitzu offense with 12 points apiece, Lucenara added 11, Stephen Barneso 10, Discutido 9 and Sean Belarmino 7.

Tropics together with Fil-Sino selection sits atop bracket A with 2-0 while Mitzu Motors dropped to 1-2.
