Drainage master plan consultants urged to hasten study

BACOLOD City Representative Greg has asked the consultants of the city’s drainage master plan to finish the study by the second quarter of 2019.

Gasataya said Friday, August 24, he talked with the Pertconsult International recently and requested them to finish the study before its deadline in May 2019.

“Hopefully, they could submit the study by first or second quarter of 2019 so we can address the local and national drainage here,” he said.

He added in July, the Pertconsult held a forum in Bacolod City with the barangay officials and various sectors.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) had earlier allotted P16 million for the study, but it was reduced to P14 million.

The budget covers the consultancy work and the preparations of the feasibility report.

The comprehensive master plan, which was earlier requested by Gasataya, involves both national and local roads.

He said the consultant should fast track their study which it’s a big help to address the flood problem.

District Engineer Abraham Villareal had earlier said the drainage master plan will greatly help in mitigating the flood problem in Bacolod.

He said that they will connect the national and local drainage to address the flood problems.

“After their study, the drainage master plan will be implemented in 2019 and they will request for another budget for its implementation,” he said. (MAP)
