Rotary Club of Western Pampanga hosts seminar for Guagua youth

THE Rotary Club of Western Pampanga Inc. in partnership with AMA Computer Learning Center (ACLC) on Friday, August 24, hosted the “Love, Courtship, Marriage and Anti-Drug Addiction Seminar” held at Waltermart, City of San Fernando.

Over 650 high school and college students from ACLC’s Guagua campus joined the event which aimed to equip the youth with proper knowledge on handling relationships, as well as shed light on substance prevention.

The seminar was highlighted by informative talks from renowned Filipino life coach Pastor Radzwill Santiago and Guagua Police Superintendent Manny Tajero. The latter, during his speech, warned the attendees the impacts of drug use to one’s life and health.

Janeth Hilario, Rotary Club of Western Pampanga Inc. president, said that the initiative is one of their organization’s many programs intended to help mold and nurture the young generation.

“This campaign is our way of promoting awareness among the youth on topics that will help them make well-informed choices and lead them to the right path,” she said.

“We believe that during this stage, it is important for us to guide our teenagers and spearhead efforts that would shield them from harm pre-marital sex and illegal drugs bring. Our youth are the pillars of the nation and our future, so we must help them become responsible members of the community,” she added.

Hilario added that aside from the annual seminar which the club has been consistently spearheading for five years now, the rotary club has also slated several projects for their district’s constituents.

“We have many projects lined up in the coming weeks, including a medical and dental mission in Guagua. This is in addition to our monthly feeding programs which are regularly sponsored by our Rotarians. Each of our club’s birthday celebrant pioneers this activity as their way of sharing the blessings especially to those who need it most,” she said.

Hilario said that while focusing on these endeavors, the organization also remains committed on fulfilling their advocacies anchored on the Rotary’s six areas of focus namely: peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and economic and community development.
