82 villages still flooded

FLOODWATERS have become stagnant in 82 Pampanga villages.

Based on the report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) released Sunday noon, August 26, at least 82 villages in the province are still submerged in floodwaters due to continued rain and high tide.

The coastal town of Macabebe is still one of the most affected community with all its 25 villages still flooded.

In Sto. Tomas town, all its seven barangays are experiencing minimal flooding, with waters up to 1.5-foot deep.

The floodwaters in some barangays of Masantol town have already subsided but there are still 19 out of its total 26 barangays that are inundated.

Both the towns of Apalit and Candaba have three flooded barangays.

In the City of San Fernando, the PDRRMO recorded two flooded barangays.

The fourth district towns --- Minalin, San Simon and San Luis -- also reported flooding in some of their villages. Minalin has three, San Luis with six, and San Simon with five.

Sasmuan town has nine flooded barangays, according to the PDRRMO report.

The state of calamity in the municipalities of Masantol, Macabebe, San Simon, San Luis, Minalin, Sto. Tomas, Guagua and Sasmuan remained in effect following the reported damages to livelihood and properties.

The disaster office stated an estimated P190-million worth of damages on crops affecting some 106,649 families which accounts for 398,875 individuals.

Nearly 1,000 families remains in various evacuation centers as of yesterday.

The provincial government of Pampanga had already distributed 24,211 packs of relief goods amounting to P2.858 million as aid to the affected families in the towns of Lubao, Sasmuan, Minalin, Masantol, San Simon and San Luis.

The PDRRMO’s Disaster Response Equipment and Manpower remains activated, prepositioned and on standby 24/7 for any possible emergency measures.

The Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council are also instructed to closely monitor the situation in their respective areas and conduct pre-emptive measures if needed.
