2 separate shootings in 40 minutes: 1 Korean killed, 1 Filipino manager survived

A Korean national was killed and a manager of an online grocery and food delivery service was wounded in a span of 40 minutes in shooting incidents in Cebu City on Sunday night, Aug. 26.

Police identified the first victim as Young Ho Lee, who was shot dead by four unidentified men inside a hotel on Holy Name St., Barangay Mabolo at 6:20 p.m. Lee was shot outside his room, in a hallway of the hotel.

A tracker team from the Mabolo Police Station launched a follow-up operation against the assailants.

At 7 p.m., Andrew Jamandre, a manager of a food delivery service, was shot while he was walking on the roadside on his way to his vehicle in Sitio Tangkongan, Barangay Sambag 1. Two motorcycle-riding men passed by him and the back rider was the one who fired shots at the victim.

Recovered from the scene were four empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.

Jamandre was rushed to a hospital for treatment and was declared in stable condition. Initial investigation by the Abellana Police revealed that the victim mentioned to his sibling that an employee, whom he fired, had threatened to harm him. Investigators are looking into a personal grudge as a possible motive. (JOB)
