GMA Regional TV will make history today as its Hiligaynon newscast dubbed as “One Western Visayas” will have its maiden show aired starting 5 p.m. today.

The said program was launched on Saturday at Palmas del Mar Resort in Barangay Singcang-Airport with the top officials of GMA Network and Regional TV gathered for the said launch.

This is a pioneering 30-minute Hiligaynon news program that promised to deliver comprehensive and in-depth news and information in Western Visayas, all tailored to fit the needs and demands of the local TV audience.

This will be produced by GMA TV-6 Iloilo with a simultaneous broadcast on GMA TV–Guimaras and via satellite on GMA TV-13 Bacolod, TV–10 Sipalay, TV–5 Roxas, TV–2 Kalibo and TV–7 Tablas.

This Kapuso newscast will be anchored by Sedfrey Cabaluna and co-anchored by Adrian Prietos for Bacolod and Kaithlene Rivilla for Iloilo and correspondents Zeny Quilantang and Darylle Sarmiento with the network stringers across Western Visayas.

GMA Regional TV is committed to producing regional programs that are attuned to the stories, voices, and viewership outside of Metro Manila, said Oliver Victor Amoroso, vice president and head of GMA Regional TV.

He added that in an age when more and more people clamor for local news, GMA Regional TV remains firm on its belief that access to local news on free TV is a great equalizer. Local news plays an important role. While national reports on a wider scope, it is the local stories that directly affect families and immediate communities.

Jonathan Cabillon, GMA Western Visayas Station manager, said they are very excited about the airing of “One Western Visayas” which will start today.

“We have prepared long and hard for this and finally it’s here – the first and only unified local newscast in Hiligaynon. ‘One Western Visayas’ aims to serve the needs of our Kapuso viewers in Region 6 as the primary source of news, information and public service in the entire Western Visayas,” he said.

The news anchors and their correspondents were also happy and excited to responsibly play their respective roles in delivering a balanced, fair, accurate and reliable news and information to the Western Visayas audience.
