CASTROL-YOKOHAMA champion racers Carlos and Iñigo Anton continued to stamp their dominance in Philippine Motorsports as they topped the autocross and slalom races over the weekend.
The Mark Young-Mohspeed racing father and son won Overall and Novice Best time in the 5th round of the Autocross Championship in Maycauayan Bulacan on August 18 before heading to Novaliches on August 19 where Iñigo went on to win the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) best time in the 7th round of the Slalom series.
It was Carlos’ second win overall and Iñigo’s 5th straight win for the Novice Crown in the Autocross Championship.
In the FWD Slalom Championship, Iñigo, the 2017 Champion and only at 14 – years - old, has set the pace since the start of the season and has recorded six of seven wins so far.
“Iñigo enjoyed battling it out with Milo (Rivera) and I in the autocross Saturday but really had to fight hard in Sunday’s slalom because his car broke early in the day. It was late in the day that the car returned from repairs and already nightfall by the time Inigo got his best run to win the Front Wheel Drive best time,” Carlos said.
The engine support bracket of Iñigo’s Honda EF snapped after just two morning runs and had to be sent for repairs before he could continue his runs.
The duo now prepare for a busy September packed with races in Tarlac, Baguio and Laguna as the championships move on to the final rounds. It will be quite a challenge for the young Anton to manage his schedule as he already started school as a Grade 9 student at the Baguio Achievers’ Academy.
