P1.5-M marijuana uprooted in Balamban

THE police uprooted 3,827 fully grown marijuana worth P1.5 million past 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, in the mountain village of Matun-og, Balamban, Cebu.

The suspected marijuana cultivator, a certain Bobby Pepito, escaped arrest.

Operatives chased Pepito after he noticed the presence of authorities in the plantation.

The personnel of Balamban Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Branch and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Central Visayas conducted the marijuana eradication.

Pepito will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The marijuana plants were burned in the area. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
