Program for hearing-impaired children launched

AN OFFICIAL of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has advised the hospital administrators to secure Z Benefits accreditation to enable them to offer the program to children with impaired hearing.

This, as Bryan Jabay, PhilHealth Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, announced that the health insurance agency is now offering Z Benefits package for children with impaired hearing pursuant to PhilHealth Circular No. 2018-0011.

Jabay said the program is already in place, however, no health facility in this region has yet to apply for accreditation “so they can offer the Z Benefits for children with impaired hearing.”

Jabay said the Z Benefits package is designed to prevent catastrophic spending among the marginalized sector that are enrolled in the program while ensuring the provision of quality health care services.

The requirements in securing Z Benefits accreditation included the needed facilities, equipment, and the specialist to attend to children such kind of health condition.

Jabay said those who can avail of the package are children zero to 17 years old duly assessed by a specialist.

The package includes diagnostics, provision of hearing aids, hearing air fitting, battery and ear mold, and speech therapy. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
