Information, education drive on poll machines wanted

THE information and education campaign on how the precinct count optical scan PCOS machine works has to be done preferably in the barangays, a party-list nominee said.

Katribu first nominee Beverly Longid said her own group conducts information campaign on the automated elections because in indigenous peoples' communities, very few are aware of the latest technology that the Comelec will be using to hasten the canvassing and minimize fraud.

"The machines should be tested in the same environment where they will be voting," Longid said as she urged the Comelec to ask Smartmatic to add demo machines.

Longid said the Comelec must intensify its efforts in terms of education and information campaign and to begin publishing the list of clustered precincts so that voters are informed as early as now where they will vote.

"We do not want a failure of elections," Longid stressed. ( Rimaliza Opiña)
