High school gets new facilities

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government turned over to Information and Communication Technology High School (ICTHS) in Barangay Sindalan new facilities, including a covered court and stage.

Also turned over and inaugurated by the City Government led by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez was a fully equipped speech laboratory, a student center and a computer laboratory that will house about 100 brand new computers awarded by the mayor.

"We are not insensitive to your needs. I saw that you needed these and the City Council immediately acted on it since education is our top agenda. I just hope you will take care of these facilities in order for us to uplift the state of education in the city and eradicate poverty and the crimes that go with it. Study hard," Rodriguez told the students and their parents in attendance.

Later in the evening, Rodriguez led the City Government in honoring retired educators and some 3,000 city teachers at Heroes Park.

Dubbed "Teachers' Night," the program came complete with performances from school heads, allowances and buffet dinner.

"We do this every year for our teachers as our tribute and our way of showing how much we love them. Dapat lang talagang parangalan ang ating mga teachers lalo na iyung special na ginawa nila noong 1980 na sa buong Pilipinas sila lang ang gumawa noon at nagpakita ng dangal, kagitingan, tatag at pagmamahal sa katotohanan noong panahong ipaglaban nila ang tutuo sa eleksyon at demokrasya. And we should not forget that because they are our heroes and we should recognize that," he told Sun.Star Pampanga.
