ANGELES CITY -- Councilor Danilo Dizon Lacson was honored on Tuesday, August 28, by Superbrands Marketing International Inc. (SMI) as one of this year's outstanding local legislators in rites held at The City Club, Alpha Land Hotel, Makati City.
SMI President and CEO Harry Tambuatco said Lacson was among the 31 local legislators that included vice governors, board members, vice mayors and councilors coming from all over the country who received the Outstanding Local Legislator Award 2018.
"In honor of their outstanding leadership and dedication to public service, we are truly proud of your exceptional meritorious conduct in the performance of your outstanding service in local legislation, that likewise has a role in nation building," Tambuatco said.
SMI is an award giving body engaged in consumer and service products.
Lacson, who is known to his fellow Angelenos as the "Kaantabay ng Maralita" because of his service above self attitude, thanked SMI for the prestigious award.
"This award will serve as an inspiration in my work as a legislator and public servant. I dedicate this to my fellow Angelenos. I owe them where I am now. Rest assured that I will do my best in serving the people of Angeles," he said.
Lacson, who is the only city councilor who served the City Council for 21 years, has passed more that 50 ordinances and more than 100 resolutions.
Among the resolutions he sponsored and co-sponsored were the creation of the city college, public cemetery, heritage district, public parks, city library, and additional cells for inmates among others.
Lacson also holds several chairmanships in the City Council, including the committee on peace and order, fire and penology, engineering and public works, senior citizens and economic enterprise.
His charitable works included the distribution of water pumps to various barangays, operation “libreng tuli” and year-round tree planting at reforestation sites to compliment the one million trees program of the local government unit. (Chris Navarro)
