Free ligation for pets

THE Office of the City Veterinarian urged cat and dog owners to pre-register on Saturday, September 1, for the upcoming free spay and neuter activity at the Almendras Gym as slots are limited.

The activity, called “Libreng Kapon ug Laygit for a Stray and Rabies Free Davao City,” will be conducted on September 27 and 28.

Spay or ligation for female cats or dogs will be scheduled on September 27, while neuter or castration for male cats or dogs will be scheduled on September 28.

“Gina-limit namo sa three cats or dogs per owner kay daghan man kaayo, so dili na matagaan og chance ang uban so limit lang (We are limiting three cats or dogs per owner so that we will be able to cater everyone),” Dr. said Cerelyn Pimili, city veterinarian, adding they have at least 500 target pets per day.

“Ang himuon lang nila, naa man tay mga district offices, magpre-register sila didto, pero first come, first served gihapon (What pet owners should do is to go to any district offices for the pre-registration, but it will still be a first come, first served basis)," she added.

The activity is a partnership with the Philippine Pet Birth Control Center Foundation Inc. based in Metro Manila.

Pimili said they hope the partnership will become an annual activity in the city so as to cater to all the pets in Davao.
