Payout of UCT cash grant starts

ABOUT 5,500 beneficiaries in Cagayan de Oro will receive their third quarter payout of the government's unconditional cash transfer (UCT) on September 1 to 2 at the Limketkai Atrium.

Some 4,700 beneficiaries will receive P3,900 each while the other 712 who are social pensioners will receive P1,500 each, Jong Pamisa said, head of the Social Protection and Development Division of City Social Welfare and Development Office.

The pay-out will start on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the beneficiaries of barangays Baikingon, Bayanga, Besigan, Dansolihon, Lumbia, Mambuaya, Pagalungan, Pagatpat, Pigsag-san, San Simon, Taglimao, Tagpangi, Tignapoloan, Tuburan and Tumpagon.

Beneficiaries from barangay Carmen, Balulang Iponan, Kauswagan, Patag, Bayabas, Bonbon nd Bulua will be entertained on the same day.

On Sunday, the CSWD will release the payout for residents in Agusan, Balubal, Bugo, Canitoan, Cugman, F.S. Catanico, Gusa, Puerto and Tablon, Barangay 1-40, Camaman-an, Consolacion, Indahag, Lapasan, Macabalan, Macasandig, Nazareth and Puntod.

According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the UCT is the tax subsidy provided under the TRAIN law to help the poor cushion the adverse economic effect of the policy.

It is considered to be the biggest tax reform mitigation program under the TRAIN law which seeks to provide 10 million beneficiaries with cash subsidies amounting to P200 a month for 2018 and P300 a month for 2019 and 2020.
