More cops to be deployed in Oro to boost security

MORE policemen are set to be deployed in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, September 3, after the city police office requested for augmentation to strengthen security following the Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, bomb explosion.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), over the weekend said some 350 policemen from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) will be deployed in different police stations in the city.

"Nag-request nata sa Camp Alagar and karon posible na sila nga ma-deploy (We already requested Camp Alagar and possibly they will deploy today)," Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa said the additional police force will be visible in the city streets and areas of convergence including checkpoints to ensure safety and security of the public.

These policemen, however, will not be used for anti-illegal drug operations.

Hortillosa said that there has been no new terror threat and the augmentation is only a precautionary measure to deter possible terror attacks.

"Walay bag-o nga terror threat pero atong assumption nga basin target sa mga terror groups ang Cagayan de Oro busa kining augmentation is precautionary measures nato (There’s no terror threat but we assume that Cagayan de Oro is the target of the terror groups so this augmentation is our precautionary measures.)," Hortillosa said.

"Walay period kung kanus-a sila taman diri sa CDO (There’s no period until when will they stay in Cagayan de Oro.)," he added.
