P2M property lost in fire

AT LEAST P2 million worth of property were lost in a fire that razed a house in Flores Village, Bangkal, Davao City Sunday dawn.

The house is owned by Ben Quiogue located at 117 Sampaguita Street, Flores Village.

Talomo police said the fire started at the playroom, between the dining room and master's bedroom at around 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

Police believe that the cause of the fire could have been the television set which was left on.

The fire was put out by the combined efforts of the Talomo Fire Station, Fire Auxilliary in Barangay Matina Crossing and fire volunteers.

The Quiogue family is grateful that no one was hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, the house of a retired policeman was ransacked in Blk. 9, Lot 20, Garden Villas Street, Eleneta Heights, Barangay Catalunan Grande, Davao City.

Police said house owner Bernardo Ukay, 53, discovered the robbery at around 5 p.m. Saturday.

The robbers took one Yamaha organ, two DVD players, two Dickies backpacks, one Blackberry cellphone worth P50,000. (AD)
