ANOTHER improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat province, killing one person and wounding 15 others.

The IED exploded inside an Internet cafe at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday night, September 2, five days after the first explosion that killed three people on August 28.

Isulan Mayor Marites Pallasigue, in a video uploaded on Facebook, called for calm and vigilance as she declared the suspension of classes in all levels in Isulan, the capital town of Sultan Kudarat province in the Soccsksargen region.

Pallasigue said classes are suspended until the law and order situation is stabilized. All principals and school heads in both public and private schools were asked to attend an emergency meeting at the mayor’s office at 9 a.m. Monday, September 3.

The mayor said authorities have pinpointed persons of interest behind the bombing, but could not divulge their identities yet.

“Sa karon, padayon ang imbestigasyon sa mga otoridad sa natabo nga trahedya. Indi pa nato mahibalo-an ang motibo, kung sino ang sa likod sining mga panghitabo,” the mayor said.

(Investigation is ongoing . We still do not know the motive nor the perpetrators of this incident.)
