POLICE Regional Office-Central Visayas Director Debold Sinas said on Monday, September 3, that the region is placed on full alert following the bombings that happened in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, in Mindanao.

He said there is no imminent threat in Central Visayas but he urged the public to be vigilant and report to authorities if they see suspicious-looking personalities.

An improvised explosive device (IED) went off in an internet cafe in Isulan last Sunday evening, September 2.

The blast killed 18-year-old Jan Mark Luda on the spot, while another teenager, Marialyn Luda, 15, who was critically wounded, died Monday, September 3.

It was the second explosion in five days. On August 28, three people were killed while 35 were wounded when an IED went off in front of a used clothing store along the highway.

The latest attack has prompted Isulan Mayor Marites Pallasigue to suspend classes in all levels until the law and order situation is stabilized.

The mayor earlier said the military has sent additional personnel to augment the police and military forces currently securing Isulan, the capital town of Sultan Kudarat province. (MCB/KAL/SunStar Philippines)
