Regulate overloaded cane trucks, BTAO told

BACOLOD City Councilor Dindo Ramos urged the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to intensify the implementation of the City Ordinance regulating the loading of sugarcane trucks and trailers in the city.

Ramos said Sunday, September 2, it’s already a milling season and the BTAO should enforce the regulation of the loading sugarcane or similar commodities onto trucks.

He said enforcers should be deployed to various entry points to arrest the erring sugarcane truck drivers.

“No truck, trailer, or motor vehicle will be allowed to pass through the city streets if they are carrying sugarcane and other commodities that exceed more than one foot beyond the prescribed body frame of the truck or trailer, both on its upper and rear portion, and if its rear portion is not covered by clothing, sack or fine net,” he added.

Ramos noted that the prescribed body frame should not exceed 14 feet in height from the ground and not exceed eight feet in width.

Ramos said violators will be fined P1, 000 to P5,000 and they will not be allowed to pass through the city.

“I authored this ordinance and was approved last year so they should implement it,” he said.

Ramos also required BTAO to submit its accomplishment report including their apprehension about riding and tandem.
