Mayor strengthens local security vs bombing incidents

ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III alerted the local police to strengthen the security in the city in connection to the bombing incident that occurred at Isulan province in Sultan Kudarat last September 2.

According to Espinosa, in an interview with the media on September 3, he instructed the local police and coastguard to check the areas where the vessels enter and the coasts.

“On Charter Day Celebration, we alerted the public and our PNP because during that time, there was a bombing incident that happened in Mindanao so we conducted a meeting with the police,” he added.

He said that they have included the security preparation for the Dinagyang Festival’s celebration next year.

Espinosa advised the public to report forthwith or inform the security officers on the areas immediately if there are elements that shows cause of bombing.

“If you saw abandoned knapsacks and boxes that were left for a time without anyone claiming it, immediately inform the security officers of the building to report immediately to our bomb disposal units to address the hazard,” Espinosa added. (Carolyn Jane Abello)
