CSF requires playing of Kapampangan music

THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of San Fernando has passed Ordinance NO. 2018-024 that requires television and radio stations in the city to play a minimum of one Kapampangan music composition every clock-hour.

The ordinance, authored by Councilor Harvey Quiwa, aims to promote Kapampangan identity and culture.

The ordinance said television stations shall play one original Kapampangan music for every clock-hour while still following the provisions of the Broadcast Code of the Philippines.

For television and radio stations, in lieu of playing one Kapampangan music if it does not fit the program format, programs using Kapampangan language would suffice.

Under the said ordinance, schools shall also incorporate Kapampangan songs, performances and acts in their respective school activities and events. If appropriate for the event, the program shall also be delivered in the Kapampangan language.

Malls in the city are also required to play one Kapampangan song in their background music every hour.

Mall greeters are also required to incorporate the use of the Kapampangan language in greeting or welcoming mall goers.

All restaurants in the city, with piped-in background music, are also required to play one Kapampangan song per hour.
